Vegetarian Restaurant: Serves Beef?

By Psychofett on 27/12/05

Chicken satay, lamb rendang and sesame prawns all seem like normal international dishes but not at the Lotus Vegetarian Restaurant. Why? Because this restaurant is exclusively vegetarian. Confused? Yes I was too but rest assured, once you start eating, you will be amazed. All the delicious ‘meat’ meals are 100% soya, and not only that, they look the same, have the same texture and taste the same as their carnivore equivalents!

The Lotus has an innovative array of soy, gluten, rice, noodle and vegetable dishes to suit most tastes. Plus on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays for lunch and dinner there is a terrific buffet available, complete with desserts and drinks. This was one of the most enjoyable meals I’ve had in a long time and I normally hate vegetarian restaurants. Tasty, cheap food… with a twist - try it sometime!

WWE Armageddon

By Psychofett on 21/12/05

Umm… Why did ex-referee Tim White commit suicide on PPV? Seriously was that a joke? That was probably the stupidest / funniest thing I’ve ever seen in wrestling. Hell in a cell is a tough match I get that, but surely WWE could have come up with something a little more tasteful, to show that type of match is brutal. What about the kids that were watching? Aargghh… ridiculous. Anyone else with me?

The FriendlyTap.com doesn’t seem to know what happened to Tim White. Hhmmm…

Journey of Discovery: With Bears!

By Psychofett on 20/12/05

Friends for a momentOn Tuesday night I caught the new documentary, Grizzly Man. What started as a man’s adventure with wild grizzly bears quickly turned into the tragic story of Timothy Treadwell. Treadwell lived in Alaska with bears for 13 summers until he and his girlfriend were attacked and eaten by a wild bear in 2003. He loved bears and felt that they needed his protection, despite facing opposition from those who considered him crazy. Director Werner Herzog’s vision is often sympathetic but does not fail to show the other side of Treadwell, confused and angry with society, only able to find solitude and peace within the realm of the bears.

After the attackGrizzly Man is good, although perhaps a little on the long side for my liking. The footage shot by Treadwell is often breathtaking, capturing some spectacular moments of the bears fighting and hunting. One thing’s for sure: I don’t think we’ll ever see anyone touch a wild bear like he did again! The end of the film leaves the viewer to make his or her own judgments about Treadwell. While many have criticised him for his outlandish behaviour, it is this reviewer’s opinion that Treadwell should be remembered as a complex person whose love of animals and nature ultimately cost him his life.
